...itinerary with hotel links, eateries etc etc
People love using similar products but resist paying. You’ll need to either find who will pay or create additional value that’s worth paying for.
Build but think about differentiation and monetization.
Creating a travel itinerary platform puts you in a competitive space, with 30 similar products already out there. This suggests a proven demand, but also highlights the need for differentiation. The good news is that the average number of comments on these similar products is around 7, indicating medium engagement from users; this shows that people are interested in such platforms. However, since it falls under the 'Freemium' category, users are generally hesitant to pay for these tools. You will need to carefully consider your monetization strategy and unique value proposition to stand out and convince users to upgrade to a paid version or find users who will be willing to pay for the platform. Focus on identifying what makes your platform uniquely valuable to travelers.

I made TripGeeks, a website where you create and share travel itineraries. Would love to hear any feedback you might have. Thanks!
Users appreciate the app's concept for trip planning but suggest improvements such as clearer pricing symbols, better search functionality, and the addition of tags for different trip types. Some users find the term 'open source' confusing and debate its meaning, while others focus on the app's performance and user interface, suggesting features like map views and shareable itineraries. There's a mix of comparisons to other apps, requests for demo access without account creation, and a call for transparency regarding the app's source code. Feedback on the app's aesthetics and timing for personal trips is also positive.
Users criticized the product for irrelevant search results, particularly location mismatches, and poor ranking algorithms. The definition and use of 'open source' were frequently questioned, alongside concerns about unclear pricing and fee allocation. The user interface was deemed outdated, and the signup process confusing due to a lack of clarity and demo access. Performance issues were noted, as well as a lack of self-hosting options. Itineraries were criticized for being overly ambitious and unromantic. The product's mission and use of community resources were also challenged.
Hello,I made this app to simplify traveling. I envisioned a platform where you can just pick a trip and go just like you might pick a Netflix movie and watch. As someone who’d love to travel more at some point, I thought it’d be great to have a place where I can access all the information I’d need to just take a trip. It’s a community based platform so trips would be created, shared, and rated by the community.Would love to hear your feedback and suggestions. Thank you.

My second startup is a tool to help with traveling.I love traveling, but keeping everything organized can be a real headache. It's tough to remember flight times, hotel bookings, and daily plans. I used to struggle with messy notes and missed details.I looked for solutions, but nothing really worked for me. I used simple notes, but I always missed something when I tried to access them, like when I wanted to visit a place or eat somewhere. I even tried popular apps like "TripIt" to arrange all my trips, but the interface was too complex and had too many details to fill in.I wanted something where I could save all my dates, location names, and especially important notes like:Eat in the old cafe in Paris. Visit the river in Florence.Where I can fill in fields if I wanted or just leave them empty. That's why I made. It's a simple tool that helps you keep all your plan details in one place.Check it out, and let me know what you think!Happy travels!

Hey HN,For the last several weeks, I have just been sleeping, eating, operating and developing itineraries.io. Rinse and repeat.I work as a surgeon in the UK. My main other passions are travel and programming. Recently, when I haven't been stitching someone up, I've been working on my project.Having always dreamed of exploring the world as a child, I struck a goldmine when I found a wife who shared the same love of adventure as me. We couldn't afford to travel much when we first met at university. Over the last couple of years, since both entering the workforce, we have been able to live out some of our dreams. It has been wonderful. We now have a little one coming along and I can't wait to adventure as a family.I created itineraries.io because my wife and I usually rely on making Excel spreadsheets for our travels. These eventually become quite detailed. I thought a better user experience could be designed, and a community could grow from it centred around adventure. Here are the main benefits I envision of using itineraires.io:- Everything you need for your trip stored in one location (tickets, driving directions, travel documents, etc)- Collaborative planning: plan your trip with your companions by sending a joining link via email- Community: save your favourite itineraries made by others, clone them with a single click, and make them your ownI'd love to hear your thoughts and feedback :)Samar
Users criticized the product for an antiquated UI, lack of clarity in product purpose, and poor user experience, including non-clickable URLs and manual input requirements. There were concerns about email integration, spam, and the necessity of sign-up to access features. The sign-up process was seen as off-putting, with a lack of incentives and visible features prior to account creation. Mobile UI issues and a confusing strategy were also noted. Some feedback addressed unrelated topics, such as personal anecdotes and accusations of sexism, which may not be directly relevant to the product's functionality.
I’m excited to introduce my new AI-powered SaaS that takes the hassle out of travel planning. With just a few inputs, my AI generates personalized day-to-day itineraries, including the best hotels, restaurants, and activities, all in seconds.Key features:Custom Itineraries: Tailored day-to-day plans based on your preferences. Top Hotels and Restaurants: Recommendations for the best places to stay and dine. Recommended Activities: Discover must-see sights and activities suited to your interests. Instant Results: Save time with quick and accurate travel plans. I built this tool to simplify travel planning and help you make the most of your trips. Give it a try and let me know what you think!
YourTravels is a platform where travelers can share their trips and experience. They easily can create a interactive map with their travels and share with their friends.
YourTravels' Product Hunt launch has garnered positive feedback, with users praising the interactive maps and the potential for connecting travelers. The 'Guide/Explore' feature and the ability to share adventures are highlighted as exciting aspects. Suggestions for improvement include incorporating local recommendations, adding user-submitted hidden gems, and developing mobile apps. Some users are interested in using the platform to connect with others for meetups. The launch is met with congratulations and excitement about the platform's innovative approach to travel and connection.
Users suggest developing iOS/Android apps for tracking purposes and incorporating a language assistance feature for travelers. A significant concern revolves around the difficulty of attracting and retaining users on the platform. Enhancing user engagement through user-submitted hidden gems is also proposed.
We noticed a gap in how travel is planned. There's plenty of tools for booking flights and hotels, but what about truly experiencing a destination? Our app aims to fill this void by customizing travel plans into an easy-to-navigate interface.
Over the New Year weekend, I was planning a trip with my wife on Google Docs and it became really frustrating trying to move days and activities around and figuring out which days we needed which hotels and trying to see which order of days/activities worked best for what we wanted to do. So I did what any weekend hacker does and ended up coding something.Turas lets you: - Collaboratively organize and plan your trips and easily reorganize days and places on your itinerary - Quickly visualize how changing the start date changes the structure of your trip - Visualize routes and paths between places on your itinerary and quickly load into Google Maps on the go - Organize your checklists - packing list, pre-departure, and more - Generate a text trip summary - perfect for sending in emails and text messages - Create an inspiration board to capture your notes and ideas as you plan your adventure If you'd like to see a short intro: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qFx5fJUR53II admit, I ended up "rage building" Turas.app over that weekend out of frustration with Google Docs so I did not look into other options like Wanderlog; I just knew what my wife and I needed based on how we organize our multi-day trips.Would love to get HN's feedback!
Users appreciate the app for its trip planning capabilities and flexibility in accommodating different planning styles. Some users note that the app borrows tags from TaskPaper and express a preference for plain text with graphical views. There are also inquiries about what users dislike about Wanderlog.
Users find Taskpaper trip notes difficult to view on a friend's computer and prefer a structured graphical view on mobile devices.
I enjoy traveling, but I sometimes find it difficult to stay motivated when planning a trip. This led me to the idea of creating an automatic trip planner for travelers like myself who prefer a more effortless approach. I will continue to develop the project, as there are several ideas that could be implemented. If you have any feedback or suggestions on how to make the planner more useful, please feel free to share. Thank you!

Hey HN! I've been building a tool to help me keep track of all the places I want to go and have already been. You can create lists for different travel goals, add places to those lists, and add a personal rating/note when you visit those places along with the date and time of your visit. All the places you add are visualized on a map and each list has a timeline view that shows your visits in order like a travel diary.I recently went on a trip to London where I used AdventureList to:1. Gather and organize all the places I wanted to visit beforehand 2. Log all the places I visited along the wayNow I can look back on my trip and remember how it went: https://adventurelist.app/users/akash/lists/london-trip-2024...Another use-case that I have been building for is for more general, unstructured exploration, e.g. wanting to try out more restaurants in your home city. I like going to new coffee shops in my city (Chicago) and this is how I keep track of cool ones I want to visit: https://adventurelist.app/users/akash/lists/chicago-coffee-s...Initially this started off as an alternative to Google Maps Lists where you could check off places after you've visited them (I had many, many places pinned in Google Maps and got frustrated with that experience), but it has slowly grown to include more features like following other users to see their recent travel activity. Things are very basic right now but any thoughts and feedback would be much appreciated!
Hi!I recently booked a few flights with points on Chase. Since they were through Chase and not through the airline, Google didn't automatically add them to my calendar. This year, I've also been attended a few weddings with long itineraries and a music festival with a selection of artists I wanted to add to my calendar. These _should_ be trivial to add to a calendar. Instead you end up transcribing a lot of info and double checking your timezones manually. It was easy to find a lot of people who struggled with creating events for a variety of reasons, so I figured this might be worth spending a couple hours to make a tool for this. (here's one example of many: https://old.reddit.com/r/delta/comments/19fde5h/adding_itine... )That's why I made invite.sh, a thin GPT wrapper that takes any description of an event as input (flight confirmation emails, wedding itineraries, etc) and outputs calendar invite links for Google, Yahoo, Office365, and Outlook so you can easily add any events to your calendar. The site is live at https://www.invite.sh/ It's also open source! I'd appreciate stars: https://github.com/jrhizor/inviteIt's pretty simple, and yet-another-gpt-wrapper, but I'm hoping the addition of a UI makes it a bit more user friendly than trying to get this output from ChatGPT directly. Please let me know what you think!
