Idea type: Swamp

The market has seen several mediocre solutions that nobody loves. Unless you can offer something fundamentally different, you’ll likely struggle to stand out or make money.

Should You Build It?

Don't build it.

Your are here

You're entering a crowded space with your AI-powered soccer betting tips website. Our analysis shows there are already 21 similar products out there, indicating a high level of competition. Engagement, as measured by average comments on similar product launches, is low (averaging just 1 comment). This suggests that while there is interest, converting that interest into active users is tough. Given the number of competitors and relatively low engagement, it's crucial to really differentiate yourself. Your idea falls into the 'Swamp' category which suggests that the market has seen several mediocre solutions that nobody loves. The recommendation for this category is: don't build it, unless you can offer something fundamentally different.

Recommendations

  1. Before proceeding, deeply analyze why existing AI-driven soccer betting tip solutions haven't achieved widespread success. The 'Swamp' category designation underscores the need to understand past failures to avoid replicating them. Leverage the provided competitor analysis to identify common pitfalls, such as lack of transparency in prediction models, and proactively address them in your strategy.
  2. If you decide to move forward, identify a specific niche of soccer bettors who are currently underserved. Don't try to be everything to everyone. For example, focus on a specific league, betting type, or risk tolerance. This targeted approach can help you stand out and build a loyal user base. Consider what parameters or insights would make your AI model more transparent than the competitors, based on the discussion summaries from similar products.
  3. Instead of directly competing with existing betting tip providers, explore creating tools or services that enhance their offerings. This could involve developing advanced analytics dashboards, risk management systems, or AI-powered model validation tools. Consider the need for trust, and how you can provide better insights or tools to help existing providers build user confidence.
  4. Assess adjacent problems within the sports analytics or gambling industries that might present more promising opportunities. For instance, explore AI-driven solutions for player performance analysis, injury prediction, or match outcome forecasting for team management purposes, rather than focusing solely on betting. It is clear from competitor discussions that the use of AI models and their predictions, coupled with transparency is a must in this space.
  5. Given the crowded market and the 'Swamp' category designation, carefully consider whether investing your time and resources into this venture is the best use of your potential. It's better to re-evaluate and wait for a better idea, or new market opportunity, than to waste energy on a project with low prospects.

Questions

  1. Given the existing solutions and the criticisms they face (lack of transparency, doubts about profitability), what unique value proposition can you offer that would compel users to choose your AI-driven betting tips over established options?
  2. How will you ensure transparency and build trust with your users, especially concerning the AI model's parameters and prediction methodology, addressing the key criticism found in similar product discussions?
  3. Considering the low engagement observed in similar product launches, what specific strategies will you employ to foster a vibrant community around your platform, encouraging user interaction and feedback?

The x-axis represents the overall feedback each product received. This is calculated from the net use and buy signals that were expressed in the comments. The maximum is +1, which means all comments (across all similar products) were positive, expressed a willingness to use & buy said product. The minimum is -1 and it means the exact opposite.

The y-axis captures the strength of the signal, i.e. how many people commented and how does this rank against other products in this category. The maximum is +1, which means these products were the most liked, upvoted and talked about launches recently. The minimum is 0, meaning zero engagement or feedback was received.

The sizes of the product dots are determined by the relevance to your idea, where 10 is the maximum.

Your idea is the big blueish dot, which should lie somewhere in the polygon defined by these products. It can be off-center because we use custom weighting to summarize these metrics.

Using AI to bet on soccer games. $5,200 profit so far

In the last month, I whipped up and started testing this cool custom tool that uses AI to suggest good bets for live soccer games, mostly focusing on stuff like "+2.5 goals" and "+1.5 goals."So far, it's been pretty spot-on about 80% of the time, and it's brought me over $5,000 in profits. But now, I am not sure about the next step:- Was it just luck, or can I keep counting on this kind of success?- Up to now, it's just been me using it. Should I think about selling access to others or just keep it to myself?- What kind of legal stuff do I need to watch out for if I want to sell it? I'm guessing I've got to be real careful with how I pitch it.Any thoughts or advice on this?

Users suggest starting a subscription service for weekly match picks. There are also questions about the reason for selling despite high earnings.

Users criticized the decision to sell a highly valuable asset, questioning the rationale behind selling the 'golden goose.' Additionally, there were doubts about the authenticity of the high earnings claim, with users skeptical about the accuracy and truthfulness of the reported figures.

Analysing Euro 2024 betting odds with scraping and AI

27 Jun 2024 Data & Analytics

I created a bot which analyses Euro 2024 betting odds and performs some basic analysis based on the recent form of each team and provides advice on which odds are under/over-priced by email to all subscribers. The intelligence of the bot is admittedly rather basic but this simple app shows how easy it is to reliably scrape and parse structured data with AI and perform insightful analysis. The initial version of the bot, shown in the notebook took about 15 minutes to build.Disclosure: this bot is built on our new graph based #nocode platform NodeScript.dev, which we've recently brought to market.

Using bots and maths to beat the sportsbooks

I have recently developed a bot capable of simultaneously scanning over 140+ sportsbooks around the globe. It analyzes millions of odds in real time and uses this data to find overpriced odds. The logic behind it is straightforward: it uses odds from all sportsbooks to calculate the probabilities of an event occurring. Then, with simple maths it determines if the expected value is positive, meaning the potential payout exceeds the risk.Unfortunately, sportsbooks limit your accounts once they realize that you are profitable and not a losing customer. So I have already been limited at more than 15 sportsbooks, but in the process I have made a substantial amount of money. Some months closing at over $5,000 worth of profit. The bot supports most sportsbooks from the US, UK, EU, Canada and Latin America and finds hundreds of these opportunities per day and sends them to a Discord channel.Beyond finding +EV bets (positive expected value), it can also identify arbitrage opportunities (surebets), allowing us to bet on all the outcomes of an event for a guaranteed profit.I’d love to hear your thoughts about it!
