Hello everyone. I was here a week ago posting about a logo generator that uses AI to make logos. Here's the link in case you missed it:
https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=34179452I've been playing around with AI for a couple of months now and I've made some really cool logos (at least I think they are cool). I thought it would be a bummer to let them sit around in a folder on my laptop so I decided to create a marketplace. The hardest part was trying to figure out how to add the watermarks with php (that's what I use, sorry). Another thing I had to take into consideration was how to store all the thumbnails, watermarked and regular logo images. I currently have them on my server's file system but might have to change that if I try and scale this at all.I'd love some feedback on the marketplace.
Users expressed concerns about copyright and originality in AI-generated logos, with some questioning the legal aspects and others the creative process. There's a debate on the value of AI in logo design, with opinions ranging from AI being suitable for low-value tasks to elevating brands. Technical feedback includes requests for higher resolutions, vector formats, and checks against existing logos to avoid copyright issues. Some users suggest additional features like mood/theme selection and A/B testing. The marketplace concept received mixed reactions, with interest from indie devs and critiques of its business model. Positive comments praise the idea and suggest improvements, while some comments were flagged for review.
Users criticized the AI-generated logos for lacking copyright protection and being generic, impacting their effectiveness. Concerns were raised about the legal aspects, such as trademark issues and ignoring existing logos. Technical challenges with PHP, image storage, and insufficient resolution were noted. The design process was questioned for not including mood/theme selection and for potential to generate inappropriate content. The need for vector scalability for larger prints was emphasized, and some users found the logos whimsical and not centered properly.
